Hammer Strength Standard: Arlington Martin High School
Texas high school athletics are as big as the Lone Star State. Arlington Martin High School is an example of that. The school, which has more than 3,400 students, has claimed a handful of state championships and has a notable alumni base that includes a handful of professional athletes.
Bob Wager, who serves as the head football coach and athletic coordinator, has been a big part of the athletics program at Martin for 13 years.
“Within a 50-mile radius of this high school lies the best high school football in the country,” said Wager. “It’s extremely competitive and I think the same can be said for a lot of the sports that we participate in. At Martin High School we go above the standard.”
Wager isn’t just there to coach kids on the football field or in the school’s impressive weight room. He’s there to mold leaders.
“It’s been extremely impactful and very fulfilling to me to not just make a difference from an athletic development standpoint, but hopefully make a difference on the remainder of their lives. You can't do that without building a great relationship.”
In 2016, Martin unveiled a gleaming new weight room for use by its students.
"The weight room is the motor of any athletic program," added Wager. "To be able to design this room from concept to completion, in partnership with Hammer Strength, and to see it come to fruition is a dream come true for us. We have a great sense of pride in this room."
